 EVENT SOLD OUT FOR 2009

El SalvadorThe Association of Surfing Lawyers is proud to announce our Seventh Annual Overseas  MCLE Conference.   This year we are going to Las Flores Surf Club, El Salvador, between September 26 - October 2, 2009.   (See the end of this email for important information on who qualifies to attend this event.)

Check out the resort (and get answers to most of your questions) by going here: http://www.wavehunters.com/lasfloressurfclub/

The ASL has been to El Salvador before, and scored perfect waves for a week straight.  Our travel agent, Henry Morales, has this to say about Las Flores for the week of our trip:

Historically, September has been a great month, with consistent surf in the 4-6ft range with some bigger days. Wind El Salvadorconditions are normally light and variable in the morning.  I like the tides the week of your trip because you have incoming high tide for the first ½ of the week which is good for Punta Mango, then afternoon lows for Las Flores which is more protected from afternoon wind.  The 2nd half of the week, the tide is low in the mornings for glassy Las Flores out in front of the resort. We are also learning the weeks without extreme tides are better since the tides are so strong in the region anyway with the Gulf of Fonseca nearby, that sometimes really strong outgoing tide currents can diminish the swell the same as a big high tide.

The approximate cost of the trip is $1,302.75 per person.  Airfare is about  $748 in coach for a round trip on Taca Airlines departing from Los Angeles International Airport. In order to guarantee the ASL exclusive use of the resort, our members need to get their $500 deposits on file right away.  Furthermore, ASL surf trips fill up fast and space is limited to only 18 surfers, so it is first come, first served.

El Presidente will be coordinating the MCLE presentation, so he hereby calls on you to serve your club by volunteering an hour of your time during the trip to give an MCLE lecture on the issue of your choice.  We need to assemble a roster of speakers and topics as quickly as we can, so your immediate attention to this request will be mucho appreciated.  Let me know what you would like to present by writing me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
We will make the final speaker lineup announcement before the trip.

Qualifications: El Presidente is sorry to report that he knows of attorneys on past ASL trips who have kooked out by having never paid dues or were in serious arrears.  (Worse yet, some of you failed to keep your promise to El Presidente to pay on your return).  Therefore, only dues paying ASL members are entitled to attend!  So if you are interested in going – and why wouldn’t  you be – then you must first email El Presidente at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it so he can El Salvadorconfirm that your dues are current. He will then notify the travel agent that you are cleared for takeoff.  Please CLICK HERE to download our membership form.
Space permitting, after June 1, 2009, the trip will be open to, in order of priority, non-attorney surfers and then non-surfing guests of attendees.
The Association of Surfing Lawyers, Inc. is a State Bar of California approved MCLE provider.
